That fictional character once famously said, “Churches are lights, smoke, and tae-bo.” Turns out “he” was right! In the past few decades, churches did become more light, smoke, and whatever than gatherings full of Presence. No wonder people everywhere have been growing wistful for environments where “souls-in-embryonic” stage are waiting to be awakened, waiting to be formed by the Spirit of God into a beautiful, new creation, capable of bringing the spirit of Jesus into the divisive, de-souling ways of early 21st century living.
RETRIEVING THE ANCIENT WAYS OF JESUS
Jesus’ greatest invitation when he lived on earth was simple and powerful: “Come be with me and learn my rhythms of life and faith and you’ll find rest for your weary soul.” At the Upper Room we are once again letting the church become a laboratory where people get to retrieve and try out that personal, endlessly relevant invitation.
A DEEPER, MORE TRANSFORMATIVE LIFE IS AVAILABLE
We want you to get all that Jesus offers. He is willing to be your savior—and he’s capable of being your life. When Jesus becomes your savior, you’ll receive the amazing gift of spending eternity with God. When Jesus becomes your life, you’ll receive the amazing gift of living life in the here and now with God. We have deliberately turned the Upper Room into a disciple incubator where following Jesus becomes an entire life process rather than a one-time decision.
